Opening Hours

Monday – Friday:  8.30am - 4.30pm

Frogmore’s Learning Resource Centre (LRC) aims to support a school-wide reading culture through igniting curiosity for inquiry-based learning, information literacy and reading for pleasure. Students can explore a wide array of subjects in our non-fiction collection, discover new fiction genres and feel a sense of community. With access to a large collection of dyslexia-friendly and “quick read” books, as well as Sora, an online platform of eBooks and audiobooks, the LRC is designed to be accessible for all. We are continuously reviewing our stock to ensure it reflects our diverse student body.

Whether you’re in need of a calm, safe space at break/lunch or wanting to become an excellent scholar through extracurricular engagement, our LRC is dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for all. Open until 16:30, students are welcome to complete homework/revision or contribute to the LRC through displays and content for the newsletter.

Recommended Reading Lists

To help students find entertaining and informative books, we have produced recommended reading lists by year group and topic. For those in need of more inspiration, subject-specific reading lists can be found in the library and Miss Grimshaw is able to give suggestions.

Books in the Teen section are deemed suitable for ages 13+, while T+ books contain sensitive or adult themes so can be borrowed by years 10-11. A parental permission slip can be obtained if students wish to borrow books above their age range.

With the library loyalty card scheme, students earn a stamp for each book they borrow and get a reward for getting 10. Students are encouraged to have a book with them at all times to read during tutor and library/English lessons. Books are loaned for 4 weeks but can be renewed if the student requires longer.

These are not exhaustive lists by any means and students are free to select other appropriate book titles. Additionally, although these lists are fiction based, it is perfectly acceptable for students to select non-fiction titles. The library will be open between 3.00-4.30pm each day should parents wish to seek advice and guidance from the school librarians.
